I feel you.
I’ve had those moments when I’ve tried to share my posts on Facebook and only the title or the website name appears. It’s terrible, because every blogger knows that when sharing posts on FB, links with images are the ones that easily capture a reader’s interest.
I’m not a developer, neither an advanced blogger, but I’m sure this will be of great help to many beginners (or not) who have just started blogging.
Problem: Only the title or the site name appears on the shared link
What you want to appear: Image + site title + preview text
There are so many ways to accomplish this. This is the EASIEST one for me because 1) I don’t want to add a plugin 2) I’m not familiar with using codes…so here goes Facebook Debugger
STEP 1: Go to Facebook Debugger
STEP 2: Place the post’s URL on the space provided and click ‘Fetch new scarpe information
STEP 3: IGNORE the errors and refresh your site. (From here you may already try if the image will appear when you share it on FB…if not, go to the next step)
STEP 4: Scroll down and you’ll see the preview. If you are not happy with it then CLICK ‘Fetch new scrape information’ again. (Again, from here you may already try if the image will appear when you share it on FB…if not, go to the next step) Sometimes, it takes one try. Here, it took me the third time until I get the image to show up (I was just really experimenting on it)
STEP 5: CLICK ‘Fetch new scrape information’ again. The image will appear.
STEP 6: Refresh your post or site. Paste the link on FB. You’re done.
If somehow, after all these steps the image doesn’t show, try copying the URL from the FETCHED URL . This worked for me (or maybe it was because the refreshing was delayed)
UPDATED (August 16, 2015)
If in any case those above steps doesn’t work, then share the post while on the FB Debugger. Click the SEE THIS IN THE SHARE DIALOG link. It works perfectly. Just did it, because for some reasons, the steps above worked, but did not display the image. I did this and yes! Success! =)
Anyway, that’s it. Tell me if it works for you. If not, and you are into coding and plugins, then try the other options:
