Little light overpowered by darkness often creates shadows. Sometimes, creative, sometimes scary shadows.
The same is true in real life. When there’s little light to guide and enlighten us, we only get the shadows of truth and not the truth itself. Sometimes, with our imagination, we even create our own figures that often scare the peace out of us. These shadows may represent wrong perceptions of people, problems that are not really there, and fears that shouldn’t be even there in the first place. The danger comes when these ‘shadows’ lead us to confusion and trap us in even more dark situations.
We can dwell further and be trapped along with these shadows or allow Jesus, the light of the world, to remove us from the dark by being our light.
To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace. Luke 1:79
As he lives in us, his light conquers every dark area that creates those shadows of confusion in us. Will you dwell in the dark or let Jesus be your light?
